he diversity and quantity of natural wonders are numerous and out of all of these wonders, hot springs take a prominent position due to its uniqueness and rarity. Throughout the globe many travellers and tourists flock to various selected destinations that harbour these amazing hot springs.

               A hot spring is a unique form of a spring produced by the heated groundwater that is found inside the earth’s crust. However, hot springs can also be defined as any form of a water spring that is relatively warmer or hotter than typical water springs. Volcanic regions are one of the primary areas where hot springs are easily discovered. A large number of regions and countries are known for popular hot springs and out of these the United States, Peru, Japan, Ireland, and New Zealand are globally known.

               The Hot Springs National Park of the United States of America possesses a total of 47 hot springs and it is one of the most famous locations for hot springs. Sri Lanka is also a well-known country for its hot springs and many tourists, including both local and foreign tourists, visit these springs. The Kanniya Hot Water Wells in Trincomalee as well as the Madunagala Hot Springs are two of the most popular sites for hot springs. Nelumwewa in Polonnaruwa as well as Rankirihiriya are two other locations known for their hot springs.
