Prince’s Pond -Polonnaruwa

The Prince’s Pond of Polonnaruwa, referred to as the ‘Kumara Pokuna’ in the local language, is a perfectly squared shaped structure with a circular centre. The water for the pond is supplied via the ParakramaSamudra and the water flows to the pond out of two mouths of dragons which had been designed nearly a thousand years ago. A structure adjacent to the pond has also been found and it is believed this is the place where the people prepared to bath.
